About the Position:
Under the supervision of the District Materials Engineer, the incumbent assists in the administration of the Caltrans Material Plant Quality Program (MPQP Program) and qualifies plants under the Program.
As the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), has the responsibility of administering the Radiation Safety Program and use of the radioactive material within District 3.
Responsible for certification of nuclear gauge operators as related to nuclear material safety.
Incumbent will be responsible for running the Laboratory Safety Program as District Laboratory Safety Officer (DLSO).
The position requires effective communication with laboratory staff, Resident Engineers, Contractors, and materials suppliers.
Frequent travel to construction field offices and job sites as the construction schedule demands.
The incumbent performs Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) testing, Inertial Profiler (IP) testing, and Coring.
Extensive travel and night work in the District and outside of the District is required.
A valid CA drivers license is required while operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
