Vice President of Operations, Western Region American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of consumer and industrial products sold to other manufacturers and to pet, agricultural and home heating markets, seeks a General Manager based at its Marysville, CA Plant.
AWF manufactures at 11 locations spanning the nation, has 400
employees, and generates over $100M in annual sales revenue.
The General Manager will have P&L responsibility, responsible for managing approximately 30 staff and establishing and accomplishing business objectives.
KEY
Responsibilities:
SAFETY - Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, good housekeeping, and overall safety of entire plant and its employees.
Works carefully with supervisors to establish a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all employees.
Conducts or assists in regular safety meetings on a monthly basis or as needed.
MANAGEMENT - Directs and coordinates manufacturing operations; analyses of activities, purchasing costs, sales and operations and directs progress toward stated goals and objectives; confers with Executive Management, Division Vice President, and other management personnel to insure profit and growth objectives are on track.
Communicate with Executive Management & Corporate HR as needed to inform/resolve production or personnel issues that may arise.
Consistent with the Corporate mission, principles, goals and objectives; works with others by directing, supporting, listening, encouraging, coaching and motivating to achieve optimum results and help others grow in their jobs.
OPERATIONS - Responsible for general planning, directing and monitoring of all plant activities including; production, maintenance (in coordination with the Maintenance Manager), transportation and special projects, to achieve the safest and most efficient operations possible within established budget guidelines.
Strives to achieve balance between production and sales within the plant capabilities and raw material flow.
Also accountable for manufacturing costs, inventory levels, repairs, operating methods and effective use of people-hours, skills, machines, equipment and facilities.
Coordinates programs as they relate to operations, such as, manufacturing methods and engineering, cost reduction, preventive and regular maintenance, training, and safety.
Responsible for supporting and promoting such programs as continuous improvement.
MATERIAL ACQUISITION - Work with Raw Material Manager to identify and investigate prospects for by-products in the region, to include review of concentration/volume, interviewing representatives, negotiating agreements, selection, and determination of potential suppliers.
SALES - Supports and helps coordinate the sales efforts.
Communicate raw material shortages, production issues and customer issues that may arise to Sales team & Customer Service for resolution.
DIVISION PLANNING AND SUPPORT - Contributes to highly beneficial quarterly division operation reviews, assists in the development of long-range goals and objectives, and supports and administers company policies and objectives.
Also prepares and analyzes raw material, production rates, P&L, etc.
to prepare fiscal year budgets and financial planning in coordination with the executive team.
FINANCIAL - Works with Division Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in the development of financial plans and forecasts.
Helps assure the accuracy of monthly financial statements.
Hold monthly financial & profits analysis meeting with plant management team to discuss results and team initiatives to make needed adjustments.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree and/or 5
years' management experience required General and operations management experience required Exceptional leadership and organizational ability Background in manufacturing, engineering/maintenance, wood products, and transportation preferred For consideration:
